A Story of
Courage and Faith
Our goal is to establish a museum that tells the complete story of the 1955 integration of Hoxie School, those who opposed it, and those who supported it. We want to show how the integration affected the entire community, black and white.
"Right in the sight of God" was one of the three reasons the Hoxie School Board listed for its decision to close the district's substandard "colored" elementary school and integrate about 30 African American students into its previously all-white campus.
We now own a 2,736 square foot, one-story, brick building near the school campus. Cromwell Associates of Little Rock has provided a plan to convert the interior for exhibits and an education center. We have a goal of $250,000 for the necessary updates. Please consideration a donation to help this museum become a reality.
